If you've experienced a flood or water damage, be sure to call your
Insurance Company if it's significant enough to require professional
attention. How do you know? If you can't clean it up with a shop vacum
or a good mop, you may have a bigger problem than you can handle. It's
better to leave it to the professionals. We at J&M
Keystone know how to fix the problem immediately, reducing the long
term damage water can have on your home or business. In any event, the
sooner you take action, the less this experience will cost you in the
long run and the sooner you will be up and back to operating normally.
Crumbling
drywall and plaster, warped flooring, stained ceilings, and moldy
carpets are just a few of the potential losses in a water-damaged home
or place of business. The most common cause of water damage is not rain
or flooding, but burst hoses on washing machines, refrigerator
icemakers, and other appliances. The severity of a water loss is
greatly increased when the damage is not discovered promptly.
Washing
machine hoses carry pressurized water all the time. If one burst, it
could fill a room or an entire floor in your house with several inches
of water. It's easy to see when your bathroom sink is leaking, but
what about the water you don't see? Water that seeps through cracks in
grout and caulk can rot the wooden structure of your home or business.
Check your grout and tiles for cracks — especially in the shower — and
repair them right away if you find anything.
Think of
the gallons of water in your water heater flooding your house. Pipes
and drains are common problems, these include stoppages of toilets and
drains (especially kitchen drains, where grease can build up),
stoppages of garbage disposals, clogging of air conditioner lines,
stoppages of drains from clothes washers due to lint accumulation, and
deterioration and bursting of water lines to clothes washers. Roots in
sewer lines cause problems as well. In addition, in older homes and
buildings, cast iron and copper pipes are often installed next to each
other. As the copper corrodes the cast iron, they will eventually break.
J&M
Keystone can handle any size insurance claim, from cleaning smoke
residue or simple water extraction to reconstructing entire homes or
commercial buildings. Let J&M be the liason between you and the
insurance company/adjuster to make sure that your home or office is
completely restored to your satisfaction.
