MANUFACTURED HOMES DEFINED
Sometimes called “mobile” homes, manufactured homes are not the same thing as a modular or prefabricated home.
Manufactured homes are transportable, fixed to a chassis and built to be towed to a residential site.
Modular (prefabricated) homes are built at a factory, then towed in sections to a permanent location.

If you’re in the market for a manufactured home, make sure you select one built after 1976 and bears the HUD certification and safety label.
