Nearly 38 million fire extinguishers throughout the U.S. have been recalled due to the possibility of their handles breaking off while in use.
In this issue, we’ll talk more about what’s behind the recall, the importance of having working fire extinguishers in your home, business, and vehicles, and provide information that will help you select the right fire extinguisher for your uses.
WHICH FIRE EXTINGUISHERS HAVE BEEN RECALLED?
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, 37.8 million fire extinguishers made by Kidde were recalled in early November. The recall involves 134 models made between Jan. 1, 1973 and Aug. 15, 2017. They were sold in stores, including Walmart, The Home Depot, Montgomery Ward and others.
The affected units appear in red, white and silver colors, and are labeled “ABC” or “BC.”
You can find the model number on the fire extinguisher’s label. Check out the full listing of affected models on the special announcement made by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
