While the school year has launched for most districts, one elementary school had to postpone its opening because of mold issues.
Even though the mold was reportedly contained to one classroom, the superintendent was rightfully adamant in making sure the mold issue was dealt with before opening the school to children.
“We’re not going to take a chance and put our kids in danger,” the superintendent said. “We’re going to clean these classrooms, replace the tiles and get the school ready.”
The students were sent to two other schools in the district until the work to get rid of the mold was completed.

A study carried out by the Berkeley Lab revealed that damp or moldy schools – or molds and bacteria in floor dust – are significant risk factors for children.
Youngsters are particularly vulnerable because their organs are still developing, and they take in more air in relation to their body size than adults.
