San Diego's Water Damage Restoration Company

Keeping your Head above the Water

If you have an emergency please call 1-800-368-2757. Operators and emergency service crews are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

No matter how large or small, water damage presents problems that – left untreated – can harm your property and your health. Our staff is trained and experienced in reacting quickly and resourcefully to any type of flood, water, or sewage failure. Our immediate response and proven damage-control tactics ensure that we stop additional damage before it starts.

We are the leading resource for damage restoration due to:

  • Storm and flood damage;
  • Broken pipes;
  • Leaky rooftops;
  • Appliance leaks;
  • Sewer function failures.

Flood/water damage presents a problem that is difficult to repair. Damage from the water and bacteria growth can begin within hours.

The severity of water damage can differ based upon the source that the water came from, the structure of the building, the duration of the damage, and the possessions affected.

No matter how severe the damage, it is in the owner’s best interest to employ a professional restoration contractor to carry out the restoration process. Insufficient techniques and incomplete drying by unqualified contractors can potentially cause ongoing damage after the treatment and result in additional cost to the owner.

Tips to Remember after Flooding Problems

Do:

Wash your hands properly if you have been in contact with flood water or silt;

Take particular care when preparing or eating food;

Contact your insurance company (if relevant), and make an inventory list of all damaged goods, including food;

If you can, take photos or videos of the damage;

Put contaminated, flood-damaged food in black plastic garbage bags, seal, and put out for the next collection. Check with insurers before disposal;

If you accidentally ingest (swallow) mud or contaminated flood water and you become ill, contact your doctor.

Don't

Don’t be tempted to try and salvage damaged foods, as they may be contaminated with sewage or chemicals left from the flood water;

Don’t switch on electrical appliances that have been in contact with the flood water, unless a competent electrician has ensured it is safe to do so. Your local electric company will be checking the main’s supplies;

Don’t eat home grown garden or allotment fruit and vegetables that have been covered by flood water;

Don’t remove undamaged home-grown vegetables, that are in the ground, for at least two weeks, and only use them after thoroughly washing and cooking;

Don’t let young children play on affected grassed or paved areas until they have been cleaned and restored to their normal condition.

Additional Flood Repair Work

Eventually, other necessary work may be identified by your insurance company, builders, etc. These will possibly be carried out after the property has substantially dried out following a flood; however, if plaster walls and partitions have been affected badly and do not dry out in a sound condition, the plaster and boards affected will have to be removed, and the walls will have to be dried out and re-plastered.

Any areas showing signs of mold should be treated; a professional mold remediation specialist is recommended.

About six months after the flood, it would be advisable to check wood floors for any evidence of rot or shrinkage. Any necessary repair work can then be made.

Fitted units, particularly in the kitchen and made of chipboard, may not dry out well and will become damaged by absorbed water. Sanitizing of these is difficult, and therefore, they may eventually have to be replaced.

Check for structural damage to your property, and if you think there is damage or danger, seek advice from your insurer, builder, or reputable San Diego contractor.
